So... Just finished working on the January 2021 Sargassum report, and sorry to say, but looks like we shaping up for a bad year.

The amount of Sargassum recorded to the East of the Lesser Antilles (red circle) has increased from 1.4M metric tons to ~3.4M metric tons between November and December.

You can see here how December 2020 compares over the last three years. You remember how bad 2018 was, see how it started in December 2017. Notice how similar that is to December 2020?

This means that we are likely to have a bunch of Sargassum all over us, with beaching events expected to begin in January/February.
This is not an exact science and I really hope I'm wrong on this, but... Brace Yourselves. Sargassum is coming
