Toxic #PFAS chemicals are on the ballot today in Georgia.
Georgia’s drinking water is contaminated with #PFAS but neither of Georgia’s Senators joined with other Republicans and Democrats to address this growing contamination crisis.
PFAS has so far been detected in the drinking water of five communities in Georgia. https://www.ewg.org/interactive-maps/pfas_contamination/map/
In Summerville, residents went months without clean water when unsafe PFAS levels were detected. https://newschannel9.com/news/local/frustrated-families-in-summerville-ga-wait-for-water-solutions
#PFAS levels detected in the drinking water Rome and Calhoun – 400 ppt and 520 ppt -- are well above the levels deemed safe by experts and regulators. https://www.ewg.org/tapwater/system.php?pws=GA1150002
Many more GA communities are likely drinking contaminated water but utilities are not yet required to test for PFAS. At least 70 companies are likely discharging PFAS into GA drinking water supplies, including many carpet and chemical companies. https://www.ewg.org/interactive-maps/2020_suspected_industrial_discharges_of_pfas/map/
Toxic #PFAS has also been detected at 5 DOD bases and suspected at 10 other bases. The levels of PFBS detected at Moody Air Force are 290,000 for PFBS and 320,000 for PFOS – two PFAS chemicals used in firefighting foams.

Neither @SenDavidPerdue nor @SenatorLoeffler has supported efforts to address #PFAS contamination in Georgia. In particular, neither co-sponsored bipartisan legislation to designate PFAS as hazardous substances, which would kick-start the clean-up process.
