Been thinking of what I might be able to do to help from afar with all the wfh/homeschooling stuff that's descending on the UK today. Here's a short thread w/some resources I hope will help--please do add to it and share if it's helpful! +
Shared this before, and here it is again: the unabridged version of The Hobbit read by Rob Inglis (who does all the voices/songs fabulously), freely available online. The Gremlin (5yo) happily listens to it for an hour at a time! https://archive.org/details/TheHobbitAudiobook/The+Hobbit/Chapter+18+-+The+Return+Journey.mp3 +
Why not get your kid hooked on drumming? @RAH_HELL is a professional drummer who also teaches drumming remotely, and has great tips for maintaining drumming skills during lockdown. Get in touch and book a lesson! +
Talked w/ @hellomizk today, and she mentioned a great activity she did w/her own kid during lockdown: buy a store made loaf cake, whip up a little buttercream frosting (here's a 5min recipe I like: https://www.justataste.com/5-minute-chocolate-buttercream-frosting-recipe/), and let your kids decorate w/whatever you've got!+
Get your kids into science w/ @MarkRober's fun videos about experiments he's run at home. Here's my favourite: his video about the Squirrel Proof Bird Feeder that became the Squirrel Obstacle Course. +
Anyone else out there got something they'd like to add that might provide a little knowledge, laughter, or entertainment during lockdown? Please add it in below, and if I think of anything else I will too! Hang in there, everybody.
Here's one I just remembered: children's author @PiersTorday will be posting recordings of readings of his work regularly each day: https://twitter.com/PiersTorday/status/1346218046592069632?s=20
