That's not a test. And it's not rational. It's just speculation, second hand, not based on 'figuerers'.

Dan is in no position to complain about other's capacity for 'rational discussion'. Lockdown scepticism does not argue against the protection that vulnerable people need. https://twitter.com/DPJHodges/status/1346390130773405696
Lockdown sceptics observe that there is zero evidence of lockdown's efficacy.

What that leaves is the fact that lockdowns are the expression of authoritarian impulses, which is of course Dan's preference.

If you've only got a hammer...
No pro-lockdown position can parse any lockdown-sceptic argument to any depth.

It's appears to them as nothing more than to let grandma die.

That tells you more about lockdown hawks than lockdown sceptics.
Largely, this is because lockdown hawks cannot imagine anything other than a war room making the decisions for each and every one of 66 million of us.

It can't conceive of people making the right choices for themselves.

That is to say that lockdown-ism is ideological.
It just so happens that this is how now-lockdown hawks conceived of society and politics prior to the pandemic.

And it is through that ideological lens that the political establishment perceives the virus itself.
If you want to see that fact in motion, go back to that early press conference in March, in which Boris Johnson oh so briefly flirted with the idea of abandoning the precautionary principle.

The rest of the political establishment, national and global, closed ranks against him.
The further test of this will be the vaccine delivering the final scene to this bizarre psychodrama.

I believe that anyone who believes it will is naïve. Too much power has been accumulated, and too many have become accustomed to it. It has altered society and politics.
