We all know why Europe did it: wants to show its independence from the US & ahead of the Biden taking over.

Not sure I know what Europe's end game is. The reality is I find the region's feet not grounded & full of ideals not matched by actions & also reality. From an American point of view, I don't understand its desire to be free of the US but unwillingness to pay for its own defense.
And many other issues like liberalism without actually defining what European values it wants to protect against the illiberalism elsewhere. It doesn't exist in a vacuum. There's the rest of the world esp where it's located it's pretty messy (Middle East, North Africa & Asia).
