Boros players @SixthComma 2020 appreciation thread!
Here are the white cards I am most excited about that came out last year in white. For ref I play mostly EDH and pioneer so they might be a bit biased.

This is better a lot of the time in W heavy commander identities than Teferi’s Protection! If I am playing mono W or boros all I want to do is cast my commander on curve and swing out next turn. That meant having greaves or {1} for boots. This is super undervalued!

“But teferi’s protection lets you protects your life! I literally can’t lose” Wrong! You built a pillow Fort while I just tapped out 3 turns in a row with impunity and I didn’t get blown out when the board was wiped. Be honest you cast Tefs to check your phone, not to play mtg.

“Oh it’s just white good stuff, no ones going to attack you with more than one creature” wrong! Everyone else casts 2+ spells all the time and it’s each turn. Every time this shows up in vEDH for me or friends it’s a rhystic study on legs but you don’t have to ask for permission.

3/3 for 3CMC with a keyword that lets you clear lands off the top for better draws. If this was printed in blue it would say “scry 1 on your upkeep each turn” and everyone would complain that it had first strike... white has a descendants path analogue, and it’s recurrable

Who thought return to dust needed to be cheaper and be a X for 1 where X is the number of opponents you “may” choose to target. That all? No it also turns into mana rock leveler to bulldoze the board, cantrips, and needs a stifle to counter... sure I guess there’s room for more

Why is this an instant? I keep on forgetting this is real, how does nobody play this card? I know 2020 was a bit of a fever dream but this isnt the symmetrical W we know. This is “that’s not board presence, this is board presence!” Does no one know W can sac stuff? Orzhov. Value.

Sorry did someone wonder how we were getting verge rangers back? This is mono W lurrus except it gets back bigger creatures (yeah lurrus gets permanent, don’t care: we’re playing W). Gets all the hate bears and saves GY from being bogged. Also I hear artifacts can be untapped?

I know Pariah exists... but what about putting this in boros? Immediately found a roost in my Feather edh deck. This bird is besties with brash taunter and impact resonance!

Goes infinite with Sun titan, which is only played in 19% of all possible decks on EDHREC. What does this do for Zur? I hope to find out as soon as I can play in person again.

This really has been added to all possible decks of mine. Anyone running sunforger just got their win con covered and then some. If there’s a theme from the last two it’s that white is the most resilient colour. Flawless maneuver solidified that this is just the on top!

Thanks for reading. Didn’t even cover commanders or multicolour cards, the RW and WG ones this year seemed especially good! Honourable mention to reprinting Heliod’s Pilgrim, it would be a >5$ card by now if it was first printed in mirage. Also cards listed are kinda budgetish!

I think that W (and mono W) especially is gaining power. There are so many good cards being neglected that be considered. Not that EDH needs staples (separate issue) but the pendulum is swinging and I anticipate over-correction in 2022 at the latest. Or just Kaldheim for WR
