hi @jameelajamil ! i'm someone who was a big fan of yours, and respects your mentality of wanting to constantly change (your bio has "in-progress" in it, which I love). In the most respectful manner, I would love to tell you about the problems of this tweet. https://twitter.com/jameelajamil/status/1346264539847770112
The main issue I take with the tweet is you referring to this as simply a "rich white people mess". As someone who originally was someone who believed Amber's allegations, and rode the wave of Believing All Women, I understand where you are coming from.
We SHOULD believe women who have indisputable evidence - for too long, female cases have systematically ignored or brushed under the rug or disregarded because of men in positions of power. But this is a case where the evidence from the start was unstable and manipulated.
If you look at Amber's claims, just read over them, and notice the very present inconsistencies with things she has said, and her so-called "witnesses" have said. Do true and real events truly contradict each other?
With the evidence that I have linked above, that is available to the public, we can see a woman quite obviously abuse a man, physically and psychologically. She then creates a hoax of abuse to extort funding and ruin his life.
Anyways, by relegating this situation to a "rich white people mess", you're saying that male victims of domestic abuse do not matter. You're somewhat calling a serious matter of DV, of which you have spoken and advocated for, as some sort of tabloid story.
A man almost died, multiple times, at the hands of his wife. He is still being abused by her, a woman who not only abused him, but his kids, and many close to them. By calling it a rich white people mess, you are saying their pain doesn't matter, and inadvertently enabling her.
If the roles were reversed, and a man had claimed DV, but had tapes released that quoted them saying "I wasn't punching you, I was hitting you", "No one will believe you", and the female had injuries documented several times by the paps - would we be discussing this?
Here is the link to my article on my journey with this case, in case you wanted to read about my full perspective. https://twitter.com/bella__thoughts/status/1325265454567485446?s=20
No one is wanting you to be an expert - we are simply asking that if you are looking into the case, or want to make the public act of liking a tweet on it, that you do it with the full knowledge of all of the facts of the situation, bc you do have a very public platform.
You can do SO much good, and you already have - why not support the truth and justice, because that's the way to a fairer world, isn't it?
