As I wrote in Not For The Faint Of Heart, depression runs in my family. My brother took his life at 25, as had my aunt as an adult and grandfather, when my father was 5 years old. 2/5
I told my daughter that some families have cancer, some heart disease, some depression or other illnesses of the heart and mind and that she should never hesitate to get help for any illness. 3/5
I’m grateful that @RepRaskin and his family wrote this beautiful memorial to their beautiful son Tommy. Indeed some are, as a poet once wrote, too gentle to live among wolves. 4/5
So if you suffer from depression, get help and hopefully defeat this illness or be fortunate to live with it. To @RepRaskin & family, be gentle with yourselves. Recovery takes a long time. Thoughts and prayers with you all. 5/5
