This is addressed to those who fought for the rights of students and school staff to work or be educated in a safe and covid-mitigated environment;

Thank you. For months, many of us have been campaigning against the government's dangerous policy on schools.
We received abuse, gaslighting, and were ignored by the government that should have protected us. Many of us foresaw this but were ignored. It took months of government inaction to the concerning data and union intervention before they decided that schools are not safe.
Prior to September, I was worried sick of the risks posed to my potentially vulnerable Mum. This anxiety continued throughout Sept, Oct, Nov and Dec. In that time I had to isolate twice due to close contacts. I was one of the fortunate ones who so far has remained covid-free.
Many of us, unfortunately, know of deaths, illnesses, and long recoveries. This should never have happened.
Williamson, Johnson, Gibb, Harlow, and many of our representatives (such as my MP John Hayes) let us down. They peddled the 'schools are covid-safe' nonsense for months and as it turns out, they were wrong and they knew it.
Many of us, sent letters, relentlessly spread the word, followed the data, withdrew from school, deregistered, fought in court, and called out each and every government fib.
The fight is not over. We still need to ensure that grades are fair and the reopening is safe (ideally following @IndependentSage advice). We need to ensure that UsForThem groups do not win over the tories again and community transmission doesn't sky rocket again.
I'm not great at writing these threads so TL;DR, thank you to those who supported me, other students, and school staff in asking for our safety while receiving or providing an education.
