I'm proship! Proship doesn't mean A-N-Y-T-H-I-N-G except that I DO NOT tell other people what they can and can't ship OR judge them for it. NOTHING. It doesn't mean I don't have personal squicks tho, I do! 2/8
Here are some of *my* personal squicks, stuff you will NEVER see RTed on this account: bestiality, age-gap, underage. I mostly steer clear of incest, too, tho, I mean, have you considered Will Graham and his triplet brothers? Srry i digress... 3/8
Proship means that I recognize OTHER ppl can ship the things *I* don't like &that doesn't affect my life. Some of my mutuals ship that stuff hardcore! I mute words or ppl if needed, it's not that difficult or srs. Just let ppl do what makes them happy. Your squick is YOURS. 4/8
Most of my tweets are DeanCas related or leftist/activist stuff. I don't ship wincest. However, I don't gaf if you DO ship wincest and i am not ok with people crapping on the *ship*. The problem is NOT the ship, it's the ppl who bully and harass and take it too far. 5/8
Fiction is a safe place to work out and explore problematic tropes, themes, & stories. LOTS of ppl who do this are trauma survivors and they ship/create to cope. Some aren't tho, and that's ok too. It's not my place or anyone's to tell another person they "can't" ship smth 6/
Pls unfollow (no hard feelings) if you have an issue with this. If I see you bashing shipping, I'll do the same bc I'm not here to hurt ppl's feelings over their ship. I have not always been proship and i have learned to be better. It's OK to change your mindset!! 7/8
And I know some of you don't care, but pls consider when you demonize "all" shippers of a particular thing, you may have friends who secretly ship it for one reason or another (sometimes trauma) and you may be hurting them accidentally. Just something to think abt. 8/8
