I’ve mostly just been a follower of #electiontwitter for some time now, and haven’t really gotten involved, but I recently made my first map of my state House district in Montco! The map compares Biden’s margin of victory to Todd Stephens’ victory margin at the precinct level.
The 151st district is a suburban Philly district made up of Horsham and Montgomery townships, as well as parts of Lower Gwynedd and Upper Dublin townships. Republican Todd Stephens has held the seat since 2011 and won re-election in 2020 by defeating Democrat Jonathan Kassa.
Biden won the district handily by 20 points, but Stephens won it by 6 points. This pretty clearly highlights the suburban backlash to Trump in PA, which was key to Biden’s victory, but also shows that the GOP still has a strong grip on many suburban voters.
