WORKING PARENTS THREAD

The PM tonight claimed that everyone will be able to access childcare in #level5, but this is simply not true. Nurseries have already started closing their doors because they don’t have enough staff due to school closures and infection rates. #lockdown 1/3
Also, the Govt has just cut early year’s funding, leaving a quarter of nurseries close to collapse. Working parents, especially mothers and single parents will be pushed to breaking point, as they are expected to teach, parent, and work with hardly any support. @EYAlliance 2/3
This is not sustainable and the Govt must immediately ensure that all parents have financial support, including self-employed support or the LEGAL RIGHT to be furloughed, and increased child benefits. We cannot leave it to employers discretion whether parents get support. 3/3
