A long time friend, now a successful business personel in “outside countries” returned home and we were to reunite over diner. Plus I was to pitch my music vision to them- they showed interest as a potential sponsor. I cleaned up nice- like REALLY nice. I even wore heels.

Fast forward to the diner. It was at a high end restaurant. Well, I had been there once on a work diner so neither was the menu nor the bill a concern of mine. I had my sophisticated colleagues order for me whatever the were to have. This time though, I was on my own

My friend notices me studying the menu as if it was a High School Chemistry exam so being the good company that he was, he recommends a dish. Now let me mention that I am not the type that tries brand new dishes at a go. My stomach is not a lab for experiments like that.

I was having sweet white wine as a drink the entire time. Bad choice number 1. Never have wine on an empty stomach hoping that you are about to eat because trust me, we never actually know what the future holds even if that future is as close as your next meal

The food arrives, yeah? And it was one potato. ONE freaking potato. Ikirayi kimwe sha n’udushaza nki cumi. After bringing my A-game, wearing heels et all, being on my best behavior after a glass of wine on an empty stomach, after all the hype and anticipation? I get ONE POTATO!

The same one potato had the cheese inside it. Munyumvire namwe! Oh and it came decorated with a little leaf. Nuko nyine I ate that one potato with its little deligation of peas ndataha njya kurenzaho umutanzaniya wanjye. Ngayo nguko!

Moral of the story: Never to go on ANY diner date on an empty stomach. Nukuzajya mpera ku mutanzaniya tukagenda ari ukurenzaho kuko hariya nari mpaguye.
