2) i'm commenting on the sheer number of people currently doing this, not as much on the style itself - it may not be my bag but w/e

also to fully round out my thinking here: this is not, to me, about how any specific artist shouldn’t sound like this but about how industry misogyny locks the acceptable woman’s voice into a very specific set of marketable archetypes and this is a big one at the moment
so I am always thinking, as a person who doesn’t fit, about ALL the people who don’t fit, whose artistic visions are different, who don’t get the same chances or pushes
it doesn’t come up as often with male voices (even though there are plenty of annoying carbon copy affectations there too - Ian Curtis Voice, the yarl, etc) because cis men are allowed much more freedom and range. it’s stupid and it’s frustrating and I hate the industry
