Why Gaga won’t go back to Chromatica— yet: a thread.
so we know the Chromatica era has felt so dry and incomplete, we were expecting huge performances and high budget music videos
so i want to go back a few months, back to when she performed at the VMAs, remember what she said when she was giving her speech?
now what does she mean by “it’s a sign of respect?” she means that wearing it even though you might not have the virus is a sign that you care for the people around you.
she strongly believes in this, in not living life normally because it’s just not right when there are people dying who can’t even think about hanging out with friends, she does this out of pure respect
“but fab what about the brand deals? she’s so money hungry!”
brand deals have contracts which are signed in advance, sometimes even a year in advance so that everything is calculated and ready. when you think about all of these brand deals being planned (when nobody knew about the pandemic) just for us to enjoy it’s actually really sweet
now a question: would you tell a friend who doesn’t want to hang out with you because they want to stay safe to stop being boring and just go out? if the answer is no, then why would you tell your fave to stop being boring and just resume the era in the middle of a pandemic?
to some of us who have listened to Gaga talk about music and how it’s much more important than money, it’s not surprising that she doesn’t want to continue filming music videos and performances, why?
here’s why:
and as much as you want to discredit that lyric, she still means it. if she cared about money that much she’d be filming music videos, putting out countless pieces of merch and doing a 100 performances with paid tickets. but she’s not
Gaga is a kind soul, but some of you find kindness boring. some of you might call me a cupcake because of this thread (which i honestly don’t give a f*ck about), but if you really love Gaga the way you claim, respect her decision to feel empathy for the world
oh and enjoy the art! Chromatica is a great album that doesn’t deserve to be seen as bad just because of a pandemic. give a few listens with this new mindset and you’ll see why so many people enjoy it
