1) The following #thread is a conversation about #God between Reverend Joseph Wolff (1795 – 2 May 1862), a Missionary and Oriental traveler born in Germany with Hari Singh Nalwa (1791-1837), Commander-in-Chief of Maharaja Ranjit Singh's army.
2) Hari Singh - Do you wish to see the fortresses of this place?!
Wolf - I never look at fotresses, my occupation is to speak with people about God.
Hari Singh - What is necessary to do, in order to arrive at a more thorough knowledge of God?
3) Wolf - Jesus Christ said, "Will you heavenly father not give the holy spirit to those who ask him?" Pray to God, and He will give you the light of truth.
Hari Singh - Which is the best of all religions you have known?
4) Wolf - The Religion of Jesus Christ. Monshee, recite to Hurry Singh the sermon of Jesus, I will translate it.
5) Hari Singh - If any one purposes to leave this world, and to devote himself to God, what must he do with his wife and children? It is very had to be obliged to leave them.
6) Wolf - If you seek God with all your heart and soul, He will manage affairs in such a manner, that you shall live the more happy with wife and child.
7) Unfortunately, the conversation ends there and we don't get to find out what Hari Singh Nalwa responds.

This is from Researches and missionary labours among the Jews, Mohammedans, and other sects by Joseph Wolff, 1837.
Two things stand out when reading this:
1) Hari Singh Nalwa didn't live that long ago, cameras existed at the same time, evidenced by the photos of Wolff. 2) Wolff is BONKERS, imagine trying to convert Hari Singh Nalwa?
