Here are my thoughts on veganism. Like everything else in life it deals with relationships and acknowledges that our current relationship with other animals for their products through capitalism is exploitative, and also due to capitalism, has unhealthy consumption.
Most of them aren't anti-capitalists but that's what they mean, and they don't always have or want the language to communicate that. Whiteness enters the equation and now we have people equating (usually nonwhite) humans to cows, and this veganism is ecofascist.
Communist veganism, at least proper (anti-colonial) veganism is respectful of Indigenous relationships with animals, they are basically never exploitative. The push for people to stop consuming meat & other products *through exploitative channels* is a good thing imo.
And I think for those of us who are consuming those commodities thru exploitation, lowering and/or doing away with that consumption when able is good.
But veganism basically never has this kind of messaging. It's one of the messiest movements I've seen. It is fraught with ecofascists which I have never once seen acknowledged by a vegan. Vegan efforts should be refocused around this ⬆️ whole framework.
As another example of how bad the messaging is, the term "animal products" embraces the artificial and frankly ecofascist-rooted separation between humans and other animals, and they still use it in 2021.
Overall, the core concept of an anti-other-animal exploitation, which must necessarily be allied with an anti-human-exploitation, is a good thing. If more vegans rallied around that and fought against ecofascism in the movement, they would have more of my support.
Oh, also, white supremacist capitalism has inflated the population of cows wildly out of proportion. Methane, which they emit, is 84x worse per molecule than carbon for gg. They will need to be mass frozen or killed or dealt with somehow, they can't all stay alive. Sorry.
