We honour the risks and sacrifices made by all healthcare workers through this pandemic. Teachers, too. All of them have put their health at risk to keep Albertans safe, and our children educated. And our civil service has joined them in crafting policies to keep us safe.

So many Albertans followed the rules to slow infection rates out of respect for fellow citizens and a desire to keep our healthcare & education systems functioning. We must keep working hard because, despite the arrival of a vaccine, we have months until we are in the clear.

This UCP government has asked Albertans to do what needs to be done, yet time and time again they have not shown leadership by example. Healthcare and education face budget cuts, yet the UCP staffing budget balloons.

The UCP demand respectful politics, but show up in neighbour's driveways to personally attack them. The UCP say they want grassroots politics, but don't consult with those impacted by policy or contract changes.

The UCP ask us to follow travel restrictions, but those same restrictions don't apply to them. The examples are endless. I'm sure others will add more.

Premier Kenney is a micromanager. It is a well know fact. He knew what was happening with travel and holidays, and he approved of it. He can't punish those who travelled because he knew they were going. He has shown time and again the rules are for you. He is a hypocrite.

There is something deeply troubling in the UCP culture. I know it starts at the top, but it has now permeated the entire organization. What kind of politicians don't know the rules they created for the public apply to them too?

UCP'ers travelled against the rules; rules they created for us. There are so many of them that ignored the rules they could form their own party in the legislature, with official status and financial support.

That's not a bad egg or two. That's not bad judgement. That's a bad culture. There is something intrinsically rotten in the UCP government.
