With the 2020 season in the rearview mirror and another massive sample size to judge, I wanted to talk about Ryan Tannehill. Specifically, whether or not he is a game manager. Here is a #Titans rant/thread 1/x
First, what is a game manager? Is it just someone who does what he is asked to do and who makes the smart, brutally efficient plays instead of making dumb decisions? I'm getting a little meta here, but is a chess master a game manager? Is a surgeon a game manager? 2/x #Titans
I don't know, thriving within the confines of the system you are in seems like a positive instead of a negative. No one in the NFL goes out on to the field and does things outside of the confines of a system without taking a risk and making the dumb play. 3/x #Titans
Sure, Lamar Jackson and Josh Allen are fun to watch, but they also make some crazy decisions that lead to turnovers that lose the game for their team. Does that volatility make them better QBs? 4/x #Titans
What Tannehill has been able to do with Arthur Smith in terms of working in the confines of that system while also feeling confident enough to change calls and make his own calls in the hurry-up, is remarkable. Call it whatever you want I guess. 5/5 #Titans
