If you get a big gig in comics and everyone goes on about "this is it! You're gonna blow up now! You made it!" Don't buy the hype. It's awesome to have that support and people happy for you but you need to stay realistic. You might still struggle for awhile. 1/4
And that is perfectly fine. It doesn't mean it's over or you failed. It means you've proved yourself to someone and they are willing to give you the chance. Which, let's be honest, is big enough in itself. You still have to work hard. You will still have to prove yourself.. 2/4
Over and over and over and over and over. There will be good times. There will be bad times. There will be hopeless times. Just keep going. Keep making comics and be good. Be nice. Treat people with respect. Look for friendships more than connections...

Contacts won't help you through the darker moments. Friends will. Be a friends first, colleague second. Be professional and remember that means being a decent human being.
You don't need success to make comics. But if you want both, it's best to be professional and nice.

P.S. Yes, sometimes work is work and not a friendship. That is fine too. You should still be a good person in those occasions too.
