Will the *scientists* who detrimentally underplayed risk of Covid reflect? It’s not science if you don’t reflect on what you got wrong & why. Hope they’ll be as public about this as they were about their original unscientific claims. https://www.theguardian.com/commentisfree/2020/nov/22/we-need-scientists-to-quiz-covid-consensus-not-act-as-agents-of-disinformation
In particular, the three scientists who authored the Great Barrington Declaration - Sunetra Gupta, Jay Bhattacharya & Martin Kulldorff - have got a lot of reflecting to do. https://www.theguardian.com/commentisfree/2020/oct/11/the-rebel-scientists-cause-would-be-more-persuasive-if-it-werent-so-half-baked
Watch this and weep
It would good to see @unherd do a proper interview with the three scientists that asks them to reflect on how they got things so wrong, and why. I think we’d all learn a lot.
Update: the answer is no, no reflection from Gupta on why she’s been so wrong. She just doubled down in on @BBCr4today this morning, reasserting unscientific beliefs about herd immunity & questioning the infectiousness of new variant despite the figures.
