Feel free to engage (and disagree—respectfully), but I have a thought:

One of the reasons why Christians find themselves in cycles of sin is due to bad teachings about repentance.
If repentance is merely one changing their behavior (as a result of their own self-infused effort) then they are trying to keep the law—which has proven to be powerless (Romans 8:3).
True transformation happens as one is infused with Gospel power.
Repentance is changing your thoughts about who Jesus is, what He’s done to justify you, and who He’s made you to be in Him.

And the result of that is always a changed lifestyle.
In Adam, we are all born not seeking God (Romans 3:11).

So repentance is to change our minds about that single truth.
Scripture teaches that we are freed from the sin that so easily entangles us (Heb 12:1), not by changing our behavior, but by fixing our eyes on Jesus (Heb 12:2).
Christians find themselves in cycles of sin because they fix their eyes on their sins and not Jesus.

But the Gospel teaches the opposite.
Fixing your eyes on Jesus is to do a “180” turn against sin!
You walking in victory as a Christian is predicated upon what you do with this truth.
