1. Pleased to see the extradition of Julian Assange to the US has been rejected. The Judge was right to be concerned about Assange's mental health. The conditions in US prisons are appalling and the treatment of those extradited from the UK is unacceptable.
2. The chances of Assange getting a fair trial in the US are slim. The American public, media and Government are all biased against him. A US trial would not deliver impartial justice to him.
3. The Judge stated that the Extradition Act does not prevent extradition for political prosecutions. This is precisely why our extradition arrangements with the US require fundamental reform.
4. Our Treaty with the US is completed lopsided and gives the US Secretary of State far more discretion than it gives our Home Secretary to prevent extraditions like this. Just look at the case of Anne Sacoolas - the person responsible for the death of Harry Dunn.
