Obviously still the case, since it's only one game on. To get no minutes in the last two games after scoring in the previous two and with Werner barely resembling a footballer is disappointing though. Chelsea are a better team when Tammy plays. https://twitter.com/chelseayouth/status/1343652813356863489
Predictable from me but it's hard to argue against the idea that Chelsea are a better team when Reece James plays, a better team when Mason Mount plays, a better team when Tammy Abraham plays, and a better team when Callum Hudson-Odoi plays right now. It might be that simple.
And to be honest they look a better team when Billy Gilmour plays, and would probably fare well getting some of the next crop involved too, be that Gallagher recalled or Anjorin getting more minutes he deserves. This is what was being built and was doing well; don't run from it.
Not calling for a full academy eleven (yet) but simplifying things helps everyone, particularly when newcomers who are struggling need a bit of time to (re)find themselves. Go back to what got you rolling.
I'm also cautious not to draw comparisons here because Arsenal aren't Chelsea and it's early days on this for them too, but it's been clear for a while that their youngsters give them a better chance to win than many of their expensive arrivals, so they've played them. Simpler.
Nobody's saying this is going to catapult either team into title contention now, this year or even next year, but it's about making sensible choices and giving yourself a clear identity. This was always what Lampard's Chelsea was.
