I cannot stop with the peopleofsacramento_scams IG. Again, Sac, can we please, please, stop empowering weasels with flashy projects???

So many of us have had to navigate this stuff professionally for years & get our chops busted for not collaborating with these guys because people outside the sector don’t understand that when you’re inside an industry you recognize someone else’s lack of ethics/best practices

The projects are almost always pretty corny or cliche, artists aren’t always fairly compensated, sometimes there’s insurance, sometimes not, sometimes the artists themselves are fronting money to some of these organizers with an expectation of reimbursement

Then those of us who aren’t about it are accused of professional jealousy or elitism, not being team players, or Sac boosters, when really we want to see artists treated fairly for their labor, resources shared equitably, and to not be affiliated with shady biz practices

So most of us stay mum and play nice. But I gotta say, creating a mural to celebrate essential workers and then organizing a superspreader event that’s already leading to reported infections is really some shit.
