one of the things my son learned in homeschool phonics besides the rules for the english language, are explanations for why we spell certain words, outside of those rules, like we do.
the major reason for most of those anomalies is that we’ve adopted the spelling of the language

of origin. this is why, when you see national spelling bees (dominated by homeschoolers btw) you’ll hear the kids ask for the origin of the word when working out how to spell it. *child* spelling bee contestants have this all figured out, and yet, some schmuck in congress, with

all that money and staff at his disposal, couldn’t be bothered to do a modicum of research into the origin of the word ‘amen’ before spouting some bullshit for all to see.
and you know why? because he knows it doesn’t matter. because his virtue signaling will do more to earn

him favor with the woke fools of this nation, than the criticism of his ignorance will earn him disdain.
the man has a master’s degree, and yet i’m continually sold the lie that the ‘educated’ are more intelligent and enlightened than those who are not.
this is all one big show.
