The #Giants need to be aggressive in free agency.
Before you mention "projected cap" as if it's some kind of hard number, just look at the contracts past 2021. Besides LB1, CB1, S1 and soon to be DL1, they have no massive deals. And three of those are in the $10M-per range.
Treating the cap like it can't be maneuvered is incorrect. The Saints, Rams, etc have laughed at that strategy. The #Giants thankfully don't subscribe to it either. Say what you want about Mara/DG, but Abrams does great work with the cap and #nyg has no qualms about spending.
With a QB on his rookie deal, no major ($15M+) cap commitments outside of Leonard (coming) and maybe Dalvin (but why not franchise tag him), plus the $ they'll get back in 2022 on Solder (maybe Zeitler, too) the #Giants are in a VERY healthy cap spot.
TLDR: Spend in free agency
The "projected cap" you see is not what the #Giants use. Any team can create more (or less) cap space by dipping year(s) into the future.
Should be somewhat careful if they believe Daniel Jones is the guy, but by the time (if*) he's paid, deals signed now will have smaller hits.
And another TLDR: I don't mean sign the top two or three FAs by any means. But re-siging Leonard + taking one big swing (ARob, Samuel, Davis OR William Jackson OR Moton etc etc) plus a few (not just one) mid-level depth signings (depth is a major issue on the #Giants) would be đź‘Ś
