Prevention IS the cure.

After reading the sad news that over 6 million people in England received antidepressants in the three months to September, the highest figure on record...I wanted to create a (hopefully helpful) thread:

5 tips for improving my #mentalhealth 👇
Mental Health Tip #1:

Walk outside, every day.

Our brains NEED fresh air and nature. If you're not quarantined, please go outside (wear a mask).

"There is no bad weather, only bad clothes" - Swedish proverb.

Rain or shine, even if it's just 10 minutes.
Mental Health Tip #2:

You are what you read and see.

Unfollow negative social media that makes you feel bad.

Follow accounts that make you feel good and happy.

Don't compare yourself to instagram models or people showing off.

Find people that uplift you.

You deserve it!
Mental Health Tip #3:

You are what you eat.

Eat food that's good for your brain's health.

If you cant - supplement! (that's what worked for me recovering from #anxiety & #insomnia).

Not sure if you're getting the right food?

Mental Health Tip #4:

Know it's not about YOU.

Obsessing over "me" is a route cause to most of our suffering (in my experience).

Try to think of others as often as you can, this hack works wonders!

Contribution, charity, community - this will work wonders.
Mental Health Tip #5:

Optimise your sleep.

Didn't get 7 hours?

Go back to sleep! đź’¤

Tired later?

Take a nap.

Rest.

Make "braincare" a priority.
Disclaimer: Mental health is a thorny and complex topic..

Any post (like this) that tries to simplify it needs to be taken with a pinch of salt as we all have our unique circumstances.

If you take away anything make it this:

Prevention is the cure.
