More on the Brits denied entry to Sweden...A British teacher with residency rights, says she will be spending a second night on the floor at Gothenburg’s Landvetter Airport. Gina Smart, 25, arrived on a flight from Manchester on Sunday...
The teacher was amongst several Britons denied entry because border police said their Covid-19 test paperwork wasn’t valid.
Smart has told me that she has not been able to sleep and is “exhausted” from the experience. “I just want to get back to my home in Sweden,” she says. “I’m scared”.
Smart says that Swedish authorities asked her to return to the UK on a flight to London, but she refused, because she is from Manchester and has no family in the capital
The BBC understands that Swedish authorities refused to accept some Covid-19 tests - including NHS tests - at Gothenburg and Stockholm airports over the weekend, despite not specifying in advance to passengers which tests were valid for travel
According to the British Embassy in Sweden, all tests carried out by authorised providers, including those on the UK government’s official list of private providers of coronavirus testing should now be accepted.
Swedish citizens meanwhile don't need any form of test. For context, I got off the plane, went to airport shop to buy milk (it had run out) + got a taxi home (no mask required).
