Does the Bible teach us to ignore our feelings and listen to the truth instead?
The assumption that feelings are an enemy to God honoring living is Platonic thought, not Christianity.
Underneath every assertion that emotions are the enemy of faith is the false assumption that emotions are uncontrollable- thus the only option is to ignore them.
Throughout the Bible, God commands emotions. Rejoice. Do not fear. Trust. Hope. Be content. Do not be anxious. Delight- God does not command things people have no control over.
Do not present your members to sin as instruments for unrighteousness, but present... your members to God as instruments for righteousness. - Rom 6:13
When you feel emotions that conflicts with the truth, the Biblical answer is not to stifle them in favor of doctrine and intellectualism, but to redirect and reappropriate those emotions for worship.
Emotions we don’t know we have cannot be redirected toward God or used effectively in worship.
Not listening to your feelings is the easiest way to ensure your feelings control you without you knowing it.
