What do I even say about #WorldBrailleDay. Louis Braille was an incredible person, he defied those around him who said a blind person could not be as literate as a sighted one.
We must remember him as the teenager who developed the reading and writing system that is still in use today, but it is also important to remember that while he was alive, many sighted teachers actively opposed him, because they felt threatened. #WorldBrailleDay
He fought back, and he gave other blind people the tools to fight back. That tool being literacy. This enabled blind people to communicate with one another through writing. He is such an important part of our cultural history as blind people. #WorldBrailleDay
