What annoys most re Boris and the ongoing vaccination rollout fiasco is that if ever there was a Prime Minister who was equipped to talk up a National Effort to Beat the Bug, setting the big goal and publicly charging subordinates to sweat the detail, it was supposed to be him.
He should be presenting press conferences with a Major General and a Blue Peter-style Totaliser, setting out 10 million January Jabs, moving to 25 March Millions. Instead he’s bumbling around.
If you had a presentationally-gifted PM doing this (as we’re supposed to) he’d also be able to sell a harsh lockdown in Jan/Feb as conscripting the public into that National Effort to Beat the Bug. Instead, he’s talking about restrictions tightening as if that’s not his decision.
