Trump doesn't do 'future' in any real sense. When he won the presidency, so far as he was concerned, all of his problems were over and he could do what he wanted forever.

He apparently wanted to use the office to get as rich as he claimed to be.

(1)
Back then, things like getting caught and going to jail didn't matter because he was currently immune to prosecution and the future was too far away to worry about.

He also figured he could rig the election for a second term and maybe get the two-term limit removed.

(2)
The plan to get more Republican votes worked. The plan to suppress Democratic votes did not.

That future that Trump never worried about is here now. He lost. A lot of the Republicans that he thought he could bully into committing sedition for him aren't going for it.

(3)
He convinced many of his supporters to believe that something was wrong with the election, but not enough of them to nullify the election.

Mitch and the military have made it clear that he should shut up and go away.

(4)
That future that he never worried about is here. He expects to be arrested shortly after leaving the White House.

(5)
He's wounded, desperate, cornered and clawing for salvation. Never feeling a part of America, he's willing to destroy her if it saves him.

(6)
It sedition. It's a crime.

Elected Republicans who support him are as guilty as he is. They destroy themselves, probably destroyed their party and done untold damage to American democracy.

(7)
Whether Trump likes it or not, accepts it or not, the future has arrived.

Trump has lost. He will be prosecuted. He will be stripped of his wealth for the money crimes and will go to jail for the rest of his crimes.

(8)
Trump, and the rest of us, have arrived in a future where Trump is no more than an awful mistake in the history of this nation.

This is just clean-up.
