The people have spoken and I respect the democratic process, so here is the beginning of my #FDNY patch thread. First up is the FDNY 150th Anniversary patch. I believe these were a limited run, fortunately I managed to snag a few.
Next is the @FDNYEmerald Pipes and Drums, probably one of the most famous Pipe and Drum bands in the world.
One of my favorite units, the Center for Terrorism & Disaster Prep. FDNY’s internal #EMGTwitter, terrorism training, & intel unit. Very few units like it in the fire service. Originally stood up by Chief Joe Pfeifer, who was the 1st BC at the WTC attacks. Great folks in this shop
FDNY Rescue 3 challenge coin
More to come later.
Continuing! The FDNY department patch in color and black/gray. I’ve seen the senior leadership (Chief of Dept, Commissioner, etc) wearing the black version a lot in press conferences, etc.
Special Operations Command and the FEMA Urban Search and Rescue Task Force (NY TF-1 is jointly operated by FDNY SOC, NYPD ESU, and NYC OEM)
Rescue Company 1 (Manhattan south of Harlem) and Rescue Company 2 (Brooklyn)
Rescue Company 3 “Big Blue” - Da Bronx and Harlem. Some old versions as well, plus their 9/11 Memorial patch
Rescue 4 (Queens), Rescue 5 (Staten Island), and Rescue 6 (Reserve, possibly still housed in Manhattan but it may be at SOC on Randalls Island now) @AB670 would know best.
HAZMAT Company 1 (Quartered in Queens with SQ288 but responds citywide)
Now the Squads! Squad Co. 1 (Brooklyn) and Squad 18 (Manhattan)
Squad 41 (Da Bronx/Harlem), SQ61 (Bronx), and SQ252 (Brooklyn)
SQ270 and SQ288 (both Queens). I’m still missing the newest Squad (SQ8 in Staten Island)
Forgot another SQ41 patch.
On to the Marine Division! Marine Battalion Chief, Marine Division here. @MissAshes92
Marine 1 (Manhattan), Marine 6 (Brooklyn), and Marine 9
EMS - MERV 1 and FDNY EMS HAZTAC (EMS medics). Still working on getting the Rescue Medic and Counterterrorism Task Force patches. Plus the FDNY EMS COVID-19 coin for Da Bronx.
Manhattan companies. E26 “The Batcave”, E54/4 Truck/Batt9 “Pride of Midtown”, E58/26 Truck “Fire Factory Harlem”, E65 Times Square
Manhattan continued... E21, Ladder 6 (Chinatown), and, of course, the most famous firehouse in the City of New York... Hook & Ladder 8 in Tribeca.
Welcome to Da Bronx! E68/L49, First Due to Yankees Stadium. They have Yankees Pinstripes on the top half of their rigs if I’m not mistaken. Plus another of the most famous firehouses in New York, E82/L31 “La Casa Grande”, which Dennis Smith wrote about in his book.
Onto Brooklyn - 102 Truck, Tower (pronounced “Towa”) Ladder 124 “Tonka Truck” and E246/L169 in Sheepshead Bay
Da Bronx Fire Communications and an unofficial post 9/11 patch for those FDNY members whose remains have still not been found/identified.
I believe that’s about it for my @FDNY collection, but if I come across any more I’ll be sure to add to it.
@Greg_Pross @PreparednessJoe @EdMcDonough1 and also @TwShiloh since he’s interested on the symbols and logos used by public safety.
