This farmer moved onto Vitality in October. I weighed a batch of calves before they moved onto Vitality, a batch that had had both milks and a batch that had just Vitality. Avg. growth rates have improved by 80g/h/d but the trend line has also shifted from negative to positive.
The growth rates are also more consistent in the second group, with only 2 calves achieving below 0.8kg/d (due to ill health).
We had found on 2 separate batches before moving to us that calves were showing a decrease in DLWG as they got older.
In a perfect world, the trend line would be straight, suggesting that calves are averaging similar DLWG across the milk feeding period. The second graph is nearly straight, with the exceptions of the two poorly calves pulling the trend line down (welcome to real life)!
They were originally feeding 180g/L of milk replacer to their calves in 6L a day. They then went onto 135g/L of Vitality at up to 8L per day. Both were providing 1080g of powder per day.
