The underrated greatness and legacy of Demetrious Johnson

[thread]
RT 🙏. Need everyone to acknowledge the greatness of DJ
Demetrious Johnson is easily one of the greatest to ever step into a cage. However there are some people who just write him off for not having out of prime legends on his resume, this can be countered because he was the champion at the beginning of his division
Look at the stats:
12x Flyweight champion
11x title defences (tied with Jones)
ONE Flyweight GP champion
2017 Fighter of the year
2017 Submission of the year
4x Performance bonuses
3x FOTN bonuses
Most finishes in flyweight history (7)
Latest finish in UFC history (RD 5 4:59)
Amazing wins:
Benavidez 2x
Dodson 2x
Cejudo (should’ve won the rematch)
Kyoji Horiguchi
Bagautinov (got caught for EPO)
This may be somewhat controversial but I feel comfortable saying it: Demetrious Johnson is the best mixed martial artist of all time. He seriously has no holes in his game.
At worst Demetrious is third in the GOAT rankings imo. His championship reign and dominance is what every fighter should aspire to accomplish. His 2017 submission over Ray Borg might be the most dazzling submission you could see in your lifetime
Let’s look at the biggest misconception of his career “he beat weak competition” people will say he dismantled weak fighters then call Jones’ 2013 win against Rashad Evans amazing. The reason he didn’t beat former champions is because he was the inaugural champion!
The reason his nickname is “Mighty Mouse” is self explanatory. Please respect this man more when mentioning ATG’s instead of disregarding him because of his height and weight
