We are living in a bubble on twitter. I hear colleagues, friends, etc telling me that 1) hesitancy is not an issue or 2) just skip over them if they don't want to take it.

If you care about health equity, PLEASE do not fall prey to those seemingly easy answers. 1/7
I am learning a lot from listening these past few days. What I hear concerns me.

Low wage (most often POC) younger workers have heard that people get symptoms after dose 1 or 2. Many of them CAN NOT afford to lose a day of work. 2/7
These individuals can not just "power through" their day, as they might if they were an office worker (home or in person). Most of those I talk to are engaged in physical labor. 3/7
1. We need to make sure they understand the reality of the risks and the benefits of this vaccine. Most of these workers do NOT have a college degree. We OWE them an explanation and not pandering.

We can engage TRUSTED community leaders to help with this piece.

2. We need to arrange for them to have a full day off, a half day off or even just a few hours off if they feel ill. Using up their sick days (which most do not have available) is NOT a viable option. 5/7
3. We need to make vaccination easily accessible during their working day or at their convenience. We should PRIORITIZE their scheduling over others with more flexible schedules. 6/7
