To be a hardcore mask advocate, you must simultaneously believe the following:

1) Dr. Fauci's guidance against masks in March 2020 was to preserve supply for health-care workers, despite the fact this had been the consensus opinion at times with no pandemic (or fear of shortage)
2) Reams of data spontaneously appeared in Spring 2020, confirming the efficacy of cloth and surgical masks vs. COVID-19 (though the public has not seen any such reams of data - only a few weak examples of correlation), cementing the new consensus.
3) Masks have been so effective as to make the "old" virus (flu) disappear almost completely, while failing to move the numbers significantly against COVID. This proves the masks work AND that COVID is dangerous. Even though the consensus is that masks prevent COVID transmission.
4) A breathable cloth mask is also a sufficient seal to block microscopic droplets and airborne particles. So sufficient, in fact, that the virus could be defeated if everyone adhered to mask mandates.
5) The fact that there is no evidence states with long-lasting mask mandates are performing better than states with no such mandates is not significant. We know masks work - too many people just don't take the virus seriously.
6) Children must also wear masks at all times, despite the fact zero evidence exists that children are significant vectors, and despite the existence of studies showing significant negative psychological effects on children of wearing masks.
I could go on. But already, the points above form a completely illogical, incongruous mess. The masking crusade is not scientific. It is faith-based, a religion.

That's fine. It's America. We have freedom to worship as we choose. But we cannot impose our faith on others. (7/7)
