honestly this entire era has been proof that the bbc wants the brownie points from having a female doctor without doing any of the leg work.
this doctor has been tied up, choked, and otherwise incapacitated sometimes for entire finales in a way that her male counterparts have never been. her showrunner is too centrist for his own good that it makes the show feel like it’s scared to make any important statement anymore
whenever this era tackles politics it’s almost embarrassing, especially when you compare it to just a few series ago when the doctor was openly calling capitalism a mistake under moffat. the first female doctor deserves to make more waves than this.
and even when you step away from the show itself, she isn’t being trusted to hold her own. she is constantly being overshadowed by nostalgia and cash grabs from other eras meanwhile she gets barely anything, not even defence when news outlets start baselessly saying she quit.
