Your occasional reminder that South Korea has used tech in a massively intrusive way that Brits would consider completely unacceptable. There are trade-offs between privacy and keeping tabs on the population. https://twitter.com/KatyFBrand/status/1346020004425310210
We had a massive row about a centralised/decentralised app, and people still refuse to install our app because they're concerned about privacy. In fact we have an app that's brilliant for privacy and not much use for keeping on top of Covid.
Also worth noting that Apple and Google set the parameters of what a tracing app can and can't do: national governments and health policy makers could not side step that. NHSX tried to, and failed. At some point we need to have a big discussion about how how ok we are with that.
Personally, I'm not wild about democratic governments having to cede an important chunk of health policy in a pandemic to unaccountable tech companies in Silicon Valley.

I'm so tired.
