I wonder if 2021 will be the year when I am able to access NHS #mentalhealth care?
It's been 3 years since I was able to access community mental health care, my GP won't prescribe & I can't get any other help, leading to relapse after relapse. So much suffering.

The various different professionals & services in their silos all seem to be focusing on getting their excuses in order & documenting their stories.
As they see me suffer & deteriorate in front of them, over & over again, they're making sure they've got their justifications in.

They see me fall, again & again, each time less able to get up - and each time they build their story stronger to ensure my deterioration & demise will not be on their watch.
It's not so much they are incapable of responding in a humane way as that they are determined not to.

Is it malignant alienation? Vexatious exclusion? Or both?
Patients with serious mental ill-health have no enforceable rights to any care, treatment or support.
Staff & services know they are untouchable.
That breeds a certain sort of service, a certain type of professional.

What you're seeing is not historic abuse. It's happening now, in front of your eyes. It's being done to me.
You wouldn't believe it till it was done to you - you'll think there must be some reason, "no smoke without fire".
But no. This NHS psychiatric system enables abuse.

Abuses in psychiatry aren't a thing of the past. They are happening to very ordinary people like me right now.
You could be working within a system that is doing this to a patient or patients right now. This could be going on right under your nose.
You could be part of it.

Refusing to accept that you work in a system that is capable of abusing patients is professional complacency.
The NHS psychiatric system is based on power - the power for force treatment; the power to deny it - and that power imbalance creates strong forces. It distorts people.

Don't just watch patients bleeding to death in front of you and step over them as you go about your day.
Reflect on your part and what you can do.
