Joining the military sounds like the worst thing for your mental health
Like saying shit like “I want to protect my country” doesn’t really make sense to me since we are just fighting all the way in the Middle East
And the training for any branch is dehumanizing and making you nothing and trying to make you have no emotions
veterans are homeless and suffering from all these mental or financial problems because they can’t even integrate back into normal life
my brother joined the army (he is done now thank god) and hasn’t really been the same ever since he’s always on edge and usually angry all the time. Only time he feels comfortable is when he talks to my mom or his gf 
It’s so fucking stupid how the military is like “we will pay for your education or you can qualify for a scholarship” literally having the poor fight wars for the rich
And all the people that are like “the draft works because anybody can be picked” is dumb asf. People have been dodging the draft since the 70’s. No way some billionaire’s son is going to get drafted into the military without some strings being pulled to stop it from happening
Nations have always been using the poor as soldiers forever and view them as nothing except as numbers. Dying in battle is seen as “courageous and brave” like unless your a medic or helping somebody then I don’t understand
Our military basically takes mentally ill,poor, and misguided people and convinces them with money. Money is just a thin gold lining behind all of the trashy shit they do
I don’t want to be an asshole but if you think joining the US military right now is “protecting our country” you are ignorant. Obviously in WW2 fighting against the axis powers was necessary because of Germany killing The Jews and others. But their really isn’t a reason to join
Right now since the only threat we face really is terrorist. But we should be focusing at strengthening homeland security and airports and all large public spaces then

And if your in jrotc or whatever your highschool calls it just try to find something else to do. Jrotc is pretty much “let’s train these kids (who aren’t mentally developed yet) all this military shit for 4 years and hopefully they will join the military right after highschool”
And blindly serve their country. The military doesn’t give a shit about anybody
