"The puck slides to the line out to centre ice. Here's Gretzky, at the line OHHHHH"

I've got a trove of clips from tonight's HNIC broadcast of the Oilers-Leafs game, with Don Wittman, Gerry Pinder, Don Cherry, John Wells, Dave Hodge, Scotty Bowman & Brian McFarlane: 1/9
Let's back up. With the Oilers up 2-1, Kevin Lowe stiffly carries the puck into the Leafs end, chases it and forces the turnover. Gretzky centers to Callighen and WHAM BAM thank you MA'AM it's 3-1. (2/9)
At the intermission, Dave Hodge seemingly takes a jab at CBC about his paycheque, then introduces the check of the week (Behn Wilson). The goal of the week (Serge Savard) and player of the week (Mike Liut) follow.
In the 3rd period, Callighen & Gretzky work a give an go. Gerry Pinder thinks the last pass was just a mistake from Gretzky, that was intended for Callighen. But it ends up on the stick of Coffey who blasts it past a dejected Vincent Tremblay. Was it a mis-pass?
I caught the tail end of Scotty Bowman talking about the Oilers confidence as we see a nice shot of Mio's mask. Back to the action, Lowe boldly carries puck again, until he runs into DAVE FARRISH
Now watch in the Leafs zone as Gretzky and Laurie Boschman get tangled up. The replay shows that Gretzky tried to take the feet out from under his opponent. Driscoll, who still has no name on the back of his jersey after a week with the team, intervenes. Ooh Laurie's mad.
That all happened *before* the big hit on Gretzky by Bill McCreary at the start of the thread. That hit was near the end of the game. Now the 3 stars, accompanied by the usual stellar work by the organist.
I'll fix my VCR's tracking later, but here's a post-game interview between John Wells and Gretzky.
Now, a relatively new segment for HNIC, it's COACH's CORNER, with John Wells & Don Cherry, who is not impressed Gretzky's statements about all the hookin' and holdin'. But overall Grapes is upbeat about the Oilers direction.
But after the break, Don Cherry circles back to Gretzky, who he says is a lovely kid. You don't complain, you go out there and do your best, for CHRIST'S SAKE. (John Wells nervously chuckles).
Absolutely asinine!
