Previous studies have shown that during malaria in children, Th1-Tfh subsets are preferentially activated, but this activation isn't associated with antibody induction. https://doi.org/10.1016/j.celrep.2015.09.004

Are other Tfh subsets important in driving antibody development in malaria? 2/
To investigate this, we studied Tfh cells and antibody development during experimental malaria infection in humans. While all Tfh subsets were activated, only Th2-Tfh cells were associated with functional antibody development. 3/
Functional antibodies are important in immunity to malaria. While many questions remain, this work takes a first step in identifying Tfh cell subsets that could be targeted by malaria vaccines to improve functional antibody induction and vaccine efficacy. 4/
Many thanks to all study participants, funders and collaborators for making this work possible. Also to the editorial desk at @CellRepMed for an easy submission and review process, and the reviewers who made this publication significantly better! end/
