Having now listened to the whole phone call... Mark Meadows’ voice is clear. DJT’s is on a speaker phone, but clear.

Everyone else is less clear. I assume they’re on cell phones rather than land lines.
If I had to bet, I’d say the recording came from the White House.
Also: I didn’t win so someone must be scamming. And I’m going to throw a few thousand irrelevant numbers out because I didn’t win, so this must be your problem! And I don’t want to blame anyone (except for that one name I used about 200 times) but I need to talk to your manager!
And don’t bother actually talking, because I don’t really care what you have to say, because clearly you’re wrong, because I must have won, so you made a mistake, and you need to fix it, because everyone loves me, right? Right?!? RIGHT!!!
Seriously: this is like listening to my XY parent.
So much doubling down, so much defensiveness.
Veiled threats and indirect offers of bribes — you shouldn’t do that, it’ll be so good for you if you do this my way.
Hints of promises that will never be made explicit or good.
And under it all is a massive anxiety. In his head, he’s the primary person in the universe. Possibly the only one. Certainly, the universe will cease to exist when he does.
Everything in the universe acts to his benefit.
Except they’re not.
Which means maybe he’s not the center.
When the NPCs* start disagreeing, when the puppets create their own moves, when the toys rebel — it’s a threat to his universe.

I am SO lucky that mine didn’t have inter-generational wealth.

*Non-player characters for the non-gamers — the characters inside the game
That conflict is at the heart of narcissism. The narcissist believes he is the primary sentience in the universe, and therefore only his opinion matters. Everything else is his construct.
But he is unable to generate any positive regard for himself. He needs others to affirm him.
But the toys aren’t real. They can’t give positive regard.
And yet, the yawning maw at the center of his soul desperately wants to be affirmed. It can never be filled or quieted, because nothing is ever enough.

If they didn’t cause so much harm, they’d be pitiable.
