Big thread about Oboro incoming...

GINTAMA 2017 SPOILERS

Oboro's betrayal of Shoyo is definitely the moral lowpoint of his character, yet you can see in Shoyo's reaction that he doesn't blame his student for what he did. Obviously Oboro brought so much good into his life (1/?)
through helping to found Shoka Sonjuku and, whether Shoyo knew it or not, helping to protect the school from the shadows for several years. I think Shoyo's identity (Utsuro) and the nature of his character are also very important in why he did not blame Oboro. Shoyo had (2/?)
witnessed the worst and most unimaginably cruel parts of humanity for presumably a thousand years. When Oboro did what he did in a moment of jealousy and likely an unbearable longing to reclaim the only semblance of love and family he ever had, compared to the evil things (3/?)
that Shoyo had seen over his life, his student's actions likely came off as completely understandable. Perhaps Shoyo even saw a part of himself in Oboro, being a boy who was destined to both live and die alone and just wanted to be happy. What I think is wholly tragic about (4/?)
the results of Oboro's choice is that Shoyo probably blamed himself, thinking he had indirectly pushed Oboro to do what he did. He may have seen himself as a failed teacher in that sense. As a child, Oboro told Utsuro that if he was truly evil then Oboro himself would (5/?)
already be a killer. Seeing Oboro lose himself to darkness might've contributed to Shoyo himself giving in to his own evil. Along with this, Oboro blamed himself too for betraying his teacher, and he must've been plagued by self-loathing all his life, even hating himself to (6/?)
his dying breath. Oboro cared deeply for Shoyo, and Shoyo for Oboro. Neither of them blamed each other, but in the end, they both blamed themselves. (7/7)
