With incidence rates as high as they are now, an alternative dosing schedule could be tested quickly

Such a trial would also be FAR easier to conduct than to retool global vaccine administration systems midstream to give a different unproven dosing schedule
Imagine what sort of chaos that kind of confidence un-inspiring evidence-free change of course could elicit in vaccine distribution systems that are just now trying to work out the kinks and get moving
If there’s anything we’ve learned this year it’s how much desperation can tempt otherwise smart people to believe nonsense.

OF COURSE it’s a bad idea to give millions of people a vaccine regimen that has not been shown to be efficacious. We’re we not exhausted and desperate we wouldn’t even consider it
A key piece of advice we give trainees when they are first running codes blue: check your own pulse. Breathe deep. Get calm. Your adrenaline needs to not endanger the patient.
Multiply that by the globe and you see the stakes here.
