Warrior is an American TV series based on an original concept/treatment by Bruce Lee. Set during the Tong Wars in 1870s San Francisco, the series follows Ah Sahm, a martial arts prodigy who searches for his sister, only to be sold to one of the most powerful tongs in Chinatown.
2 episodes in so far: the performances in Warrior are so good. And seeing and hearing so many Asian American actors/actresses at once on screen is awesome. I just wish there was more of it in Hollywood.
Okay just watched one of the most badass western saloon fights I've ever seen. Absolutely savage.
Correcting my 2nd post in this thread, seems like many of the actors/actresses are Canadian or British, not American. My bad, I assumed they were since it's an American show. Don't know why I did. Still great to see such amazing talent on a western show.
I love my bisexual madame, Ah Toy. From what I understand this character is very loosely based on the real Ah Toy, a Cantonese-born American sex worker and madam in San Francisco, California. #Warrior #WarriorMAX
Before 1851 there were only 7 Chinese women known to be in the city, noticing the looks she drew from the men in her new town, Ah Toy figured they would pay for a closer look. Her peep shows became successful. She was known to charge an ounce of gold for a "lookee". #WarriorMAX
As you can guess, due to the period of this time there is a lot of violence and racism written in this show. Sometimes it can be quite difficult to get through. So while I think it's really good and underrated, please keep that in mind if you're going to try it out.
Not 100% sure how this worked out but according to IMBd Bruce Lee has writing credits on 20 Warrior episodes (2019-2020) along with 6 other writers. So that's kinda neat. #WarriorMax
