Having now read 2 horror novels by T. Kingfisher (The Twisted Ones and The Hollow Places), I have a few observations.
Snark is a perfectly valid life skill.
Pets are important and worth protecting. (No pets die in the books.)
When exploring, bring a friend.
Nothing puts petty problems in their place like nearly getting killed.
If someone breaks up with you, you no longer have to play caretaker or help them feel better. Especially when they call during dinner.
Coffee is necessary.
Baristas have seen it all.
Not everyone can do everything. Let a friend bring their tools to help.
Sleep is good for you.
So: The Twisted Ones and The Hollow Places are good books from @UrsulaV
