A short thread about a Tinder date I went on once (I am not sure this is even that interesting but hey ho, I don't think I've shared it before) 1/12
This would've been about 3-4 years ago. Matched with a girl on Tinder and we soon moved to texting. We both had WhatsApp but for some reason we settled on texting. I quite liked the novelty of it, I really only get texts from Dominos or the dentist so it was nice. 2/12
After a few days of messaging, she makes a comment about how many questions I ask. I take this as a compliment, if anything. Couple of days later, the same thing. She says 'has anyone ever told you you ask a LOT of questions?' 3/12
Again, I'm confused as I'm honestly not going overboard with the questions. I say to her that I'm just trying to get to know her a bit (and internally come to the conclusion that she must have dated nothing but arseholes who never asked her anything). 4/12
A few days later, we meet up for a date. Within 20 minutes, she brings up the questions thing again. She also tells me she has discussed me (aka the guy who asks a lot of questions) with her friends and there was serious debate about whether she should meet me(?!) 5/12
This, obviously, makes me feel heavy awkward. I suddenly feel like I can only speak in statements. Trying to sound casual, I again explain that I really don't think I ask that many questions... At this point, she takes her phone out. 6/12
She shows me our chat. I immediately understand what's happened. Y'see, I had an Android, and she had an iPhone. Now, I don't know if this happens with every phone, but, it turns out, when you text emojis (as I enjoy doing) from an Android to an iPhone, something can happen 7/12
It had changed every single emoji I had ever sent into TWO question marks. This doesn't sound too bad at first, but I started seeing the problem very quickly. 8/12

It's at this point I realise: of course she was debating if she should meet me! I must have seemed absolutely off my nut. I was seemingly questioning every single thing. Just constantly giving it ???? for no reason. She should have deleted my number in all honesty. 10/12
Anyway, the date went much better after we'd cleared this up and I confirmed I wouldn't be saying things like 'I'm just popping to the loo ??????' every 5 minutes. 11/12
So, aye, in conclusion, a big round of applause for this young lady who gave me, the ?????? guy, a chance. And also, be careful sending emojis by text ?????? 12/12
